I have the same problem with one of my boards with integrated/onboard
graphics. I just make it a habit to run "mode3" after every SVGAlib
program, like so:  prog_name; mode3

Because they're bungholes. Slackware has also dropped Sasteroids, which
is what got me into SVGAlib in the first place.
