A new pre-release is available from my page (linked from
www.svgalib.org). 

The main changes include a patch to the s3 driver that enables linear
frame buffer on PCI Trio64's. I don't know what are the affects on other
(older) S3 cards, so If someone has an S3 card that used to work, please
test and report to me. I don't plan to change many things in the
following weeks, so I hope to have 1.4.1 release by mid December at the
latest.
