I would not say that...
Cyrix have been very open lately, releasing specs for their MediaGX chip.
If anything, svgalib is (pardon my french) a dying standard. It works
extremely well considering what it was meant to do (hell, the thing allows
me to play Quake on my S3 968!) but the resources that would normally have
been put into svgalib are at work elsewhere - for instance, making GGI
happen for the common Linux user.
I bow my head in respect for svgalib. It attempted the impossible, and
succeded. But as the impossible got harder, svgalib maintained it's
position, whereas the GGI project strives to conquer new territory. Cyrix
is cooperating with GGI. Let us hope that something good comes out of this
(and I have a feeling something will!)
