vgagl or vga?

Hello.

As I'v understood the gl_ is faster than the vga_, is this so?
If yes, why use vga_? I'v read that the gl_ may require more ram as it
is linear-only, but is that a serious problem theese days, I mean
everybody got
4 megs of vram.
If there are other reasons why not to use gl_, please tell me.
